New painting in progress
Β· 4 min Β· Daniel Georgiev

The large canvas has been on the easel for three weeks. Today I put down the second layer and it became clear the first was wrong.
I started too dark. The idea was a night street, but everything sank and now I have to pull the light back out, layer by layer.
Oil does not forgive haste. Each layer waits two days, so mistakes are expensive in time.

What is left
What is left are the window lights and the figure at the bottom left. I have moved the figure three times and it is still not right.
A canvas is done when you stop looking at it and start looking at the next one.
It will go in the shop once it is fully dry β probably towards the end of the month.

Meanwhile the small canvases move faster and most go straight to the shop.
